the new face of cancer care

I am so excited to finally be able to share what has been an incredible project to be part of these last couple of months. Yesterday was the opening of the new cancer hospital at UNC. When we were approached several weeks ago about doing the photography for a traveling exhibit as part of the New Face of Cancer Care campaign, we were thrilled. And, though it happened at a whirlwind pace, this proved to be one of the most touching experiences I've had. We photographed somewhere around 50 doctors, nurses, researchers, and patients, at various stages in recovery. It was just remarkable to share in conversations with so many fascinating and dedicated people, and it was a real privilege to photograph them.
You can see the exhibit in several ways. My understanding is that the pieces will remain in the hospital for a few weeks, and will then travel around the state. Additionally, you can view the images and stories for each person on the website.
Below are a few of the *faces* I had the joy of photographing... |

| A few images from the interior of the new hospital. In addition to boasting all kinds of new technological capabilities, the building itself is just beautiful. It's clear that a lot of thought was put into constructing a place that feels very welcoming and healing. |
